Istiklal Hospital held a Scientific Day on the Art of Dealing with Persons with Disabilities, entitled “The Art of Dealing with Persons with Disabilities,” under the patronage of Her Excellency Senator Asia Yaghi, and in cooperation with the National Association for Persons with Special Needs, as part of the activities of the Story and Inspiration Forum.
This Scientific Day was organized as part of the hospital’s commitment to enhancing community awareness and spreading knowledge on the humanitarian and professional principles of dealing with persons with disabilities, in a manner that reinforces the values of respect and inclusion, and strengthens the role of healthcare institutions in providing a comprehensive and supportive environment for all.
The program included welcoming remarks, among them a speech by Her Excellency Senator Asia Yaghi, in which she emphasized the importance of community empowerment for persons with disabilities and the role of awareness in achieving real and sustainable change.
The Scientific Day also featured specialized lectures addressing the art of dealing with persons with disabilities and effective communication methods, in addition to a lecture on inclusive health and the role of proper nutrition in enhancing quality of life. All lectures were accompanied by simultaneous sign language interpretation, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility of content for all attendees.
The program further included a theatrical sketch entitled “Human Before Disability,” which conveyed a powerful humanitarian message highlighting the importance of seeing the person for their abilities before their disability, and received wide interaction from the audience.
The event witnessed the participation of eight different sectors across the Kingdom, along with representatives of persons with disabilities within these sectors. Participants included the Greater Amman Municipality, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Health, the Family Protection Department, the Ministry of Education, the Head of the Jordanian Gathering of Persons with Disabilities, the Head of the Jordanian Association for Autism Spectrum Disorder, in addition to the Sunflowers Center for Inclusive Integration.
A scientific panel discussion entitled “Empowerment Without Barriers” was also held, with the participation of a distinguished group of medical and community figures, discussing ways to support and empower persons with disabilities and enhance their inclusion in various aspects of life.
The day concluded with an interactive dialogue session entitled “Story and Inspiration,” during which participants with disabilities shared their inspiring experiences, emphasizing that determination and equal opportunities form the foundation for overcoming challenges, followed by the distribution of gifts and certificates of appreciation to participants and supporters.
Through this event, Istiklal Hospital reaffirms its commitment to its community and humanitarian role, and its continuous pursuit of supporting purposeful initiatives that enhance awareness and promote the concepts of inclusivity and health equity.
