Al-Istiklal Hospital Concludes Cochlear Implant Phase for Palestinian Children as Part of a Humanitarian Project Supported by the King Salman Center

Al-Istiklal Hospital in Amman, Jordan, successfully concluded the surgical phase of its cochlear implant project for Palestinian children, as well as a number of young and elderly patients. This humanitarian project was implemented with a generous grant from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, in partnership with a Saudi volunteer medical team and Al-Istiklal Hospital.

This phase included cochlear implant surgeries for children suffering from sensorineural hearing loss, along with young and elderly patients with the same condition. The surgeries were performed according to the highest international medical standards, using the latest surgical technologies, under the supervision of a select group of specialist doctors from Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and with close and continuous monitoring by the medical and nursing staff at Al-Istiklal Hospital.

The project team confirmed that all procedures were successful and that the patients are currently undergoing medical follow-up and auditory rehabilitation in preparation for cochlear implant activation and the commencement of auditory and speech rehabilitation programs. This will contribute to the gradual integration of beneficiaries into their social and educational environments and significantly improve their quality of life.

In keeping with the highest standards of medical safety and the provision of advanced healthcare that respects the specific needs of high-risk cases, the Anesthesiology Department at Al-Istiklal Hospital has achieved a remarkable and advanced medical presence by adopting the latest ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia techniques.

This advanced procedure has enabled the medical team to precisely anesthetize sensory nerves in some cases without resorting to general anesthesia. This has contributed to reducing potential risks, lowering the rate of complications, accelerating post-operative recovery, and improving clinical outcomes, particularly for patients in sensitive categories.

This achievement reflects the high level of competence and expertise of the anesthesiology staff at Al-Istiklal Hospital and the hospital's readiness to employ the latest global medical practices to ensure the highest levels of safety and quality of healthcare provided to patients. This humanitarian project embodies the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's ongoing commitment to supporting children and the most vulnerable groups. It also reflects the advanced medical capabilities of Al-Istiklal Hospital, which provided a comprehensive treatment environment and qualified staff who played a pivotal role in the success of this unique humanitarian project.

The cochlear implant project is a crucial step in restoring hearing to children, youth, and the elderly beneficiaries, opening new horizons for them to communicate, learn, and build a better future. It serves as a shining example of Arab integration and humanitarian cooperation in the health sector.
